Acknowledgement of Country
Relative Creative acknowledge and pay respects to the Yugambeh, Koombumerrii and Bundjalung people, past, present and future, of the Gold Coast. We also acknowledge the many Aboriginal people from other regions as well as Torres Strait and South Sea Islander people who now live in the local area and have made an important contribution to the community.
Relative Creative’s home is a special part of Yugambeh country. Burleigh Headland’s real name is Jellurgal in Yugambeh language, and the rock formations at the top of the Jellurgal are the fingers of Jabreen, who laid down to rest after creating this place. Jellurgal/Burleigh Heads and Tallebudgera were also crucial places for bush food harvesting, hunting and fishing.
Relative Creative is proudly informed by being on Country here at Jellurgal, and by our own founders’ Gamilaroi Aboriginal heritage. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
