A vision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage in Australia
A professionally designed document illustrating a vision for the future.
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment engaged Relative Creative to create a professionally designed version of their Dhawura Ngilan: A Vision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage in Australia document developed by the Heritage Chairs of Australia and New Zealand with the endorsement of the National Native Title Council and the First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance (HCOANZ).
During ideation for the document look and feel, we felt that illustrations were needed to tell the story. We put forward some suggestions to the HCOANZ team and they decided on and approached Judy Watson, a descendant of the Waanyi people of north-west Queensland. We elicited her piece, sacred ground beating heart to inform the theming and structure of the document.
