Background

Dear Son is an anthology featuring letters by First Nations men including Stan Grant, Troy Cassar-Daley, John Liddle, Charlie King, Joe Williams, Yessie Mosby, Joel Bayliss, Daniel James, Jack Latimore, Daniel Morrison, Tim Sculthorpe and Blak Douglas. Author and editor Thomas Mayor called on them to write a letter to their son, father or nephew.

Opportunity for futures

Major’s offering binds together the stories beautifully, forming an impactful look at the different perspectives of manhood and what it means to break free from problematic and disrespectful stereotypes inflicted on them because of their Aboriginality.

Our approach

Relative Creative had the privilege of designing and illustrating the front cover, internal imagery, layout and typesetting for Dear Son. The book also features artwork by proud Kaurna/Ngarrindjeri/Narrunga/Italian Australian artist Tony Wilson, with illustrations and design by our director Tristan Schultz.
